ASHLEY JAMES Biography
Ashley’s skills on the decks, impeccable taste in music and ability to get any party rocking has made her one of the UK’s most sought-after DJ’s – despite the fact she’s a self-confessed dreadful dancer (no, really!) Ashley’s personal passions are Rap, Hip Hop, Grime and R&B, but her versatility on the decks, turning her hand to any genre of tune, is what keeps her at the top of her game.
Having started her DJ career over a decade ago, playing local pubs, bars and Freshers weeks at Universities, she rapidly escalated to performing sets at major London clubs including Mahiki and Tape and is now a regular fixture on the international party circuit. Performing under the name Bittersweet, Ashley’s always in-demand in the fashion world and has lit up the dance floor of recent A-list bashes such as The Glamour Awards, Gigi Hadid x Maybelline launch and Cosmopolitan Fashion Fest as well as events for Dior, Maybelline, Rimmel, The Outnet and French Connection.
She is also proud to be official DJ for Hollywood actress Eva Longoria’s non-profit Global Gift Foundation and has worked for world-famous brands including Google – at an incredible event at the top of the Shard in London – Samsung, Huawei and Magnum. At a recent party for Coca Cola, she DJ’d alongside BBC Radio One’s legendary Nick Grimshaw.
She’s been flown to Cannes, Ibiza, Marbella, Dubai and Thailand to perform sets at major venues such as STK Ibiza and she’s even shared the decks with Groove Armada!
Like any good DJ, she’s also adept to pulling on her wellies and performing in a field, having played UK festivals including Isle of Wight, Reading, Wireless, Citadel and Mighty Hoopla.
From 2015 – 2018 Ashley has hosted her hugely popular weekly Friday afternoon Hoxton Radio show, for which she was shortlisted for the IARA Award for Best FM/UK Radio DJ in 2018. Guests on her show included G-Eazy, Mabel, Lethal Bizzle and Mario. Most recently Ashley’s been employed by a number of A-list clients (can’t reveal names sadly) to entertain their high-profile guests at exclusive private parties. Not too bad for a girl with a few dodgy dance moves!
